Correction…

by Dave

I would like to let you know that Eli did NOT share his chicken pox with Alexis. They got them at the same time. Had Eli shared his chicken pox with Alexis, her symptoms would not have shown up for another two weeks (incubation period). As it stands her spots showed up a day or so after Eli’s spots showed up. Just thought I would clear the air on that situation.

Good news – Eli is over the chicken pox and they didn’t bother him at all. Praise God!!

Changes…

by Dave

Our life is full of changes and we are liking them. :)

First of all – Eli is wonderful!! He is growing, eating, sitting up, rolling over, talking, standing and so much more. He loves to sit up and chat with those around him. He is into ‘reading’ books, he especially likes to be read to. Dave and I just love making him laugh and seeing all his fun facial expressions. Eli also has his two bottom teeth in, they came in with little pomp and circumstance, thank goodness. Eli is not into crawling yet, I’m not ready for my little man to start scooting around yet. We have been feeding him lots of fruit and veggies. So far his favorites are: squash, sweet potatoes, pears, bananas, sweet peas and mixed veggies. He’s not too keen on green beans or carrots. I have more or less given up on the cereal, he doesn’t like it anymore. Eli has been getting lots of Grampa and Gramma Paulson time each week. I teach summer school in Turtle Lake two days a week and we stay with my parents in Clear Lake for one night.

Our biggest piece of news is that we are in the final stages of buying a house!! Yay!! The house is located in St. Paul Park, MN. I’ve included a picture of it. The house has three bedrooms, one finished bathroom and another unfinished bathroom, living room, family room, dining room, kitchen and laundry/storage room. The house sits on 0.3 acres of land and has two open lots on either side of the house. The house requires lots of work, but we are looking forward to the challenge. We will be adding a photo album of the house for all you viewers to keep updated on our progress.

Quick Update…

by Dave

We have had a busy and somewhat stressful week since Eli came home on Sunday.

Sunday evening Dave wasn’t feeling well, it wasn’t long before the vomiting and other ‘fun’ stuff started. A trip to the doctor confirmed that he had a virus and it needed to work it’s way out of his system. Dave was sick until Tuesday evening and on Wednesday was feeling like his normal self. He is looking forward to having some quality ‘Eli time’ now that he is feeling better.

Eli has been doing great, we’re still trying to get a sleep pattern figured out again. He’s been eating well and playing well. The biggest change in his behavior is his desire to cuddle, he was not a cuddly baby before the surgery, now he wants to cuddle a lot. This does not bother us, we love cuddling with our son. :) Eli doesn’t seem to be too bothered or in pain, sometimes he may feel a bit uncomfortable but overall he has been a happy baby! This is what shocks people, he spent two full days in daycare a week after open heart surgery. Who does that…well, our son does that!!

AND…on Tuesday my car broke down. Dave was sick and couldn’t help fix/figure out what was wrong with it. Thankfully we have family in town who is good with cars. Nate came and worked on my car, he was able to locate the problem (something in my back brakes broke, on both sides). Due to the sun disappearing he wasn’t able to complete the job so Charlie, my father-in-law, finished the job yesterday. Sarah was wonderful too, she made us dinner and did some cleaning up for us. It felt great to rest for a moment.

Praise God we are finished with all that stuff! Dave is feeling much better, Eli is doing great and my car is all good. Thank you for your prayers, love, support and encouragement. We are so thankful and grateful for you all.
