YNAB 3

by Dave

I’m anxiously awaiting the release of a new finance management program called YNAB 3. YNAB (which stands for You Need A Budget) will be a substantial upgrade over my current software (Money 2002). I’ve been waiting for a good Mac-compatible program for quite awhile. I’m currently running Money on an XP virtual machine on my Mac and it’s ok, but I’d really like to get away from that so I can save a bit of time. I’ve seen some of the sneak peaks and it looks like it will be a good one. Here’s hoping.

Check it out for yourself here.

The fork ran away with the spoon…

Dave had lots of fun on his hunting trip but did miss Eli and me. He didn’t shoot anything for himself, but Charlie was able to fill a tag for him. Upon arriving home (at 1am on Monday morning) he spent the next few days cutting and freezing meat. We are so lucky to have a full deep freezer – it’s full of meat, meals and ice cream! Thank you Jesus!!

I did see one mouse while Dave was gone. It was at 9:30pm on Friday night, I was heading downstairs to get some pjs for Eli and noticed one in the trap. I immediately went over to the neighbor’s house and ask if Terry would come and take care of the mouse for me. He was so wonderful, he not only took care of the mouse but also checked the other traps. Thank goodness for great neighbors.

We started painting the living room today and by ‘we’, I totally mean Dave. I did nothing to help other than keep Eli entertained. Eli and I were ‘caged’ into his room busy playing with all his toys. He did great and handled being penned in very well.

This post has nothing to do with a spoon or fork, but it did catch your attention – didn’t it!?!

Well…

We’ve been mouse free for two days. We are seriously hoping and praying that it was just a momma and her babies. Dave is sure that we’ve gotten all the babies, no one has taken his bait or set off the traps. Thank you Jesus!!! I don’t like mice!

Strike that…

reverse that…the mouse count is now up to 4. UGH!!!!!!! I pray they are all caught before Dave leaves. This is making me sick to my stomach!

Well, Dave killed two more mice yesterday. One was brave enough to make an appearance in our kitchen but was trapped and killed. The second one was in a bucket downstairs unable to get out. I’m very thankful that the mice didn’t make their appearance until after I went to bed. This is how much I hate mice – between stress at work and having mice in my house – I’m physically ill much of the day. Ugh!!!

On a brighter note…Eli has a birthday wishlist! :) He would like a walking toy (to help him learn how to walk), medium sized toy balls (he likes playing catch), stackable toys, magnetic letters/numbers and plastic cars. These are all items that he likes playing with at other people’s houses. He also told us that he wants these toys. :)

Dave leaves for his big hunting trip this weekend. He leaves on Friday right after work and will return 9 days later. Eli will be going to daycare all day and Mama will be exhausted! I know Eli will do just fine at Jenny’s house, it will just be a new experience for him/us. Eli and I plan to go to my parent’s house the first weekend to celebrate his birthday with the family. The second weekend is still up in the air – if the Drews have their baby by then, we plan to visit them. If they haven’t had the baby yet we’ll go visit the Hintgens and meet baby Yuli. Or we’ll stay home and scrapbook with Sarah and Gator. So many choices we just need to decide.
