Eli is Now Crawling

by Dave

Nothing is safe in our apartment as of a few days ago; Eli figured out how to crawl. It’s really exciting to see him scooting around the floor, chasing down everything. We were kinda hoping he wouldn’t quite figure it out until we moved to our house and got things baby-proofed, but that didn’t work out. Rather than go through the trouble of doing that here (only a couple weeks before we move), we’re just keeping a close eye on him.

Here’s a video of Eli showing off his new trick. It’s been tough to get him to crawl when we want to see it, so Megan tempted him with the ultimate toy he cannot have: the remote.

Chicken Pox

by Dave

Well, Eli managed to get chicken pox. The red spots showed up one Sunday morning and had multiplied by Monday morning. A quick trip to the doctor confirmed our suspicions. We’ve been more or less house-bound for a week now, it’s been alright though. Some family friends brought their kids over to visit in hopes they would get the pox. Don’t worry, Eli was very generous and shared them with his cousin, Alexis. Her spots showed up a day or two later. The two spotty kids have been having fun together though. Thankfully the chicken pox haven’t affected Eli in anyway, other than red spots on his body. He is still the happy, loving baby that he’s always been. Other good news is that Eli won’t need to have his chicken pox vaccinations when that time rolls around. Yay less shots!!!

In other news – after spending several days with Alexis, Eli is trying to figure out this scooting and crawling thing. He has some new moves and is doing lots of exploring. I’m not sure if I’m ready for my baby to crawl yet!

More Rolling Around

by Dave

Megan loves to roll Eli over onto his stomach. It’s become a fun little game for him, which is good considering how much he used to hate being on his stomach. Here’s a look at Eli’s new skills.

A Fun First

by Dave

Eli had a big first today. While laying on his stomach, he managed to roll over onto his back for the first time. He’s done it several times today. He was also very close to rolling over from his back to his stomach this morning, but he just couldn’t quite figure it out.

Quick update…

Eli is doing great! He has mastered a new skill, he can now lay on his tummy and lift his head up. He gets the biggest smile on his face when he does this, he is so proud of himself. Otherwise he is doing great and recovering very well from the surgery.

Dave and I are slowly recovering from various illnesses. We can’t seem to shake them off as easily as in the past. Otherwise we are doing well. We are still searching for the perfect home, several have slipped through our fingers, but we know the perfect one is still out there.

On an interesting note…Eli woke up just before 4am today and as we were changing his diaper and getting a bottle ready, the building fire alarms went off. We quickly scooped him up, grabbed a bottle and headed outside to wait for the firemen. Eli quickly fell back asleep after that as did Dave and I.
