Toddling along…

by Dave

Eli successfully took 13 steps by himself today. He took several steps, squatted down, stood back up and took several more, squatted down again and stood up again and took a bunch more until he fell into Dave’s arms. We have it all on video and that will be posted within a few days.

White Castle

by Dave

I had never been to White Castle before tonight. I’ve been meaning to eat there for quite awhile as it seemed like something that I needed to try, just to say I had. After waiting in the drive through line for 15 minutes, I finally received my order. I quickly came to the conclusion that it’s a good thing Harold and Kumar were stoned when they went to White Castle, because no sober person would voluntarily inflict that kind of torture on their digestive system more than once. The burgers tasted terrible; the fries were ok. Granted, I had low expectations going in, but this was so much worse than I could have imagined. The fact that they’re in business still is shocking based upon what I tasted today.

Santa Drives a Fire Truck

by Dave

I was driving through Fridley today for work and saw a fire truck ahead of me. It didn’t take long to catch up as the truck was only going about 20 mph. As I closed in on the fire truck, I was a bit confused by what I saw. The truck was a ladder truck that appeared to have small lights all over it. It also looked like there was a person standing on top of it. I couldn’t get close enough to clearly make things out as there were several cars between me and the fire truck.

Finally, the fire truck turned a corner and my suspicions were confirmed; the ladder was decorated with Christmas lights and there was a guy dressed up as Santa standing the bucket of the ladder. He was just standing up there, waving to the oncoming cars. I’m not sure if that’s some sort of rookie hazing or just something weird the Fridley fire department likes to do when it snows. Either way, it was certainly interesting.

New Bed

by Dave

Megan and I made a big purchase the other day. We finally bought a new bed and it’s glorious. We went from a queen to a king. The new bed is very comfortable and the extra room is fantastic. Megan had some reservations about getting a king, but they quickly disappeared once she slept in it. We’re both sleeping much better now.
