New Contact and Visiting Info

by Dave

Now that we’re settled at Minneapolis Children’s Hospital, I have some new contact and visiting info for everybody. The address is:

2525 Chicago Ave S
Minneapolis, MN 55404

There’s a ramp that you can park in, but there’s also some free street parking if you’re willing to do a bit of walking. For getting in touch with us, first try our cell phones. Our phones will be off if we’re in the NICU, but you can call us at Eli’s station at 612.874.6295. In case that’s not working for some reason, you can try the hospital’s main line at 612.813.6000.

As I’m sure you’re aware, the hospital staff are not allowed to give out info about Eli’s status. We will keep you updated.

Megan and I are planning on being at the hospital this afternoon and evening. We’ll be in and out of the hospital quite a bit each day, so if you plan on visiting, your best bet is to call and make sure we’re there. Thank you, all of you, for showing your support for our family. We especially would like to thank Katie Farka for all the cooking, cleaning and running she’s done for us these last few days. You’re a life saver.

New Photo Gallery

by Dave

We added a new gallery for baby Eli. We also renamed the old one to Eli (pre-birth). There will be some more photos coming shortly.

Crossing the River

by Dave

We’ll be heading to Minneapolis Children’s early tomorrow morning. Megan will be discharged when the doc gives approval and Eli will be transferred at about 7:30am. We’re not sure what the visiting situation will be since things run a bit different there, but we’ll post here when we find out in case anyone feels compelled to come say hi.

Thank you to all for your prayers and support. We’ve felt God’s peace throughout. We feel truly blessed to call you all friends.

More Visiting Info

by Dave

Forgot to mention that we are in room 2424. To find us, work your way up to the second floor and go into The Birth Center. Make your way through the maze of hallways to the 2400 Station desk and they can point your to our room. Also, you can visit us just about any time, but if you wanna see Eli, NICU visiting hours are from 9-9.

Another note: the NICU has a lot of rules since they take care of sick babies. The most notable for visitors are no children under age 13 are allowed in the NICU, and no sick people (especially those with a cough) are allowed entry.

Baby Rupert is Now…

by Dave

Eli Mathias Burlingame. After a long day and short night, we’re ready for anybody that wants to come visit. If you feel like coming out, we’re at United Hospital (connected to Children’s Hospital) in downtown St. Paul. There’s free 2-hour street parking a couple blocks away on 7th St. near Starbucks. Otherwise, you can park in the Red Ramp at the intersection of Smith and Grand for about $3 or $4. The ramp is connected to the hospital.

We talked to the ultrasound guy from cardiology this morning. He said Eli’s heart is still about the same as it was before and will require surgery. We’re thankful God has given him to us, we still believe He can heal the boy, and hopeful that he will perform a miracle without surgery. Whatever happens, we love the boy and are excited to have him.

Here are a couple pics of our happy, new family.
