Loaf Baby

So, Eli had a checkup today. He’s more than caught up to the average weight for his age; he tipped the scales at 15 lbs. He’s in the 56th percentile. Well done, sir.

Eli has been a bit fussy the last couple days and tonight we figured out why. We saw the start of his first tooth poking through his gums. We also felt it. Poor little guy was in pain until we gave him some Tylenol and Orajel. So it begins.
The next few pictures are an interesting look at the rapidly-changing emotions of a baby. Enjoy as Eli changes moods quicker than Minnesota weather.
Eli got his first bath in the tub the other day. He had some good facial expressions.

Megan got a few shots of him hanging out on the couch. These are pretty interesting. They were taken over the course of about six minutes.

The other day I finally caught Eli’s pout lip on camera. We’ve either been too slow or not ready with the camera every other time we’ve tried.

Megan got this one. He loves the star on his play mat.

Eli generally sits pretty still when we hold him, but almost as soon as you put him down he starts squirming. In the video below he starts off slow, but picks up the pace toward the end.
One of our greatest concerns with Eli was what we were going to do for childcare when Megan goes back to work. The doctors told us that a traditional daycare was not an option as it is too high a risk for infection for him. The only other options were for me to quit my job and stay home with him or find somebody that could take care of him in their home.
With only a few days to spare, we found someone to keep an eye on him for a few hours each day. A friend at church put us in contact with one of her friends that lives in St. Paul fairly close to us. We met with her this morning and she’s a very nice woman.
It’s a great blessing to have found someone nearby as most of the people we know live in south Minneapolis. Megan is especially excited as this was one of the big items stressing her. Praise God for another need met.
