Chronicling the adventures of the B's

Saturday Morning

by Dave

We’re hanging out with Eli this morning. He was trying to eat a bit when we got here, but it wasn’t quite working for him. Thankfully, Megan thought to bring one of his bottles from home. As soon as he latched onto that thing, he went to town. He ate six ounces in all. He was hungry.

Eli slept pretty well during the night. They said he slept from 10pm to 4:30am. That’s a pretty good stretch considering what he’s been through. He’s asleep now and has been for the last 40 minutes. Pray he continues to sleep and eat well so we can take him home soon.

Another Friday Update

by Dave

Eli moved upstairs to his own room today. He did some good eating and a bit more sleeping. Hopefully the nurses will leave him alone during the night so he can sleep. He didn’t need any pain meds today, so he’s progressing well.

Friday Morning Update

by Dave

Praise God! When we arrived at the hospital this morning Eli’s chest tubes were out, they had pulled his arterial line, and stopped all of his IV drugs. Megan is holding him right now and reading him a story. As soon as his food is ready, Megan will feed him. The doc also told us that we’ll be moving upstairs as soon as a room is available. Even better, he could come home as early as Sunday or Monday if all goes well (meaning he eats, pees, and poops like he should).

Contact Info

by Dave

We can’t have our phones on while in the PICU, but there is a phone available to us at Eli’s bedside. If we’re not answering our phones, try us at 612.874.4911. It’s a good idea to call ahead if you plan on visiting, that way you can make sure we’ll be here.

Thursday Morning Update

by Dave

Eli was extubated about a half-hour ago. He’s doing really well and looks very good. Now he just has to wait a few hours to make sure he’s in the clear and then he can eat.
