Learning to Play

by Dave

About a week ago Eli and Alexis were having a little fun together. Alexis, however, decided to have a little fun at Eli’s expense. Check it out.

We're Home!

by Dave

Praise God! Eli is home! The nurses pulled the last IV line from his neck this morning. Shortly after, we changed him into some of his own clothes and I held him for a bit to calm him down. He was just laying there in my arms, kinda zoned out and looking around. After a few minutes I put him in his car seat. He immediately recognized it as a familiar thing/place and started smiling. I think he knew it was time to go when we put him in there. He sat in there, smiling and talking, while we packed up all our stuff.

It didn’t take very long for him to fall asleep in the car. Once home, we took him out and put him in his crib. He fell back to sleep almost immediately. It’s good to be home.

Home Again

Saturday Evening

by Dave

Eli is doing well. However, he’s a bit cranky when he’s awake. The doc thinks he might have a headache as a result of his surgery. One of the changes they made this time was closing the stint in his heart, resulting in increased blood pressure and swelling from his chest up to his head. It takes a bit for the pressures to equal out. The doc said the headache can last up to a week. I can feel the swelling in his head as his soft spot is still pretty firm. Pray that the pressures equalize and the headache goes away.

He’s sleeping now and has been for awhile. We’ll be headed home for dinner a little later. Thank you for your prayers.

Saturday Afternoon

Eli is eating like a champ. He’s eaten twice since we’ve been here; first six ounces then 6.5 ounces. That’s way more than usual, but the nurses said he didn’t eat much during the night when he was awake. He’s back to sleep again. After his first feeding he slept over 3.5 hours. We’ll see how long he sleeps this time.
