Case in point: the immigration law in Arizona. Their law does not add anything new or go any further than the current federal immigration laws; it merely puts a similar law on the books so Arizona police officers can do the same things federal agents are supposed to be doing regarding immigration. Of course, many people are opposed because they think it will automatically spawn racism toward hispanics. However, anyone who takes this view must believe that police officers are inherently racist. How else could anyone justify opposing this law?
